The public transportation in San Francisco is second-to-none and is the first choice of many of its residents and visitors. Whether it’s by bus, train, cable car, street car, or light rail, you’ll find it easy to navigate San Francisco. The Pickwick Hotel is just steps from the famous San Francisco cable car station on Powell and Market Streets; and right below it, is the Powell Bart Station. While there is plenty within walking distance, you can get around the entire city when you take advantage of the San Francisco transportation system, which has earned so many accolades.

Ride San Francisco's Cable Cars At Powell and Market streets, there is a cable car turntable which serves as the beginning stop for two, of the cable cars’ three San Francisco lines; the Powell-Mason and Powell-Hyde lines. Each of these lines end in a different part of San Francisco’s famous Fisherman’s Wharf, which contains a variety of restaurants and attractions, such as the Exploratorium, Aquatic Park, and Ghiradelli Square. BART from Powell StreetThe Powell Bart Station is just 1 block away from the Pickwick Hotel. You can take BART to and from San Francisco International Airport or Oakland International Airport. Bart links San Francisco with the East Bay and Daly City. In San Francisco, trains run underground along Market Street. Before you head out to explore the city, check the schedules for BART. Cards in various denominations are available for purchase from vending machines at most BART stations as well as online.

 

MUNI

Muni is the above ground San Francisco transportation option that travels to every corner of the city, offering buses, light rail trains, cable cars, and historic street cars. Caltrain
Above ground rail connecting San Francisco to the Peninsula, San Jose, Morgan Hill and Gilroy. San Francisco’s 4th and King Street Caltrain Station is the north end, from where the trains travel south, throughout the bay area. CalTrain is ideal for transportation from San Francisco to places like Palo Alto, Mountain View, or SAP Pavilion to catch a San Jose Sharks hockey game. CalTrain schedules vary by express and local trains, so be sure to check before heading out.
